Bled, Eslovénia
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the DarkSkyTour project – an ambitious new Interreg Euro-MED initiative aimed at developing sustainable astrotourism in the Euro-MED regions and protecting our precious night skies from light pollution.
🛰️ Under the full title “Development of Sustainable Astrotourism in Euro-MED Regions”, DarkSkyTour will unfold over 33 months, fostering innovation, collaboration, and ecological awareness through cross-border action.
📍 Our journey begins with the Kick-off Meeting in beautiful Bled, Slovenia, where all partners will gather to set the project in motion.
🤝 The project brings together 10 dynamic partners from across Europe:
BSC, Business Support Centre L.t.d., Kranj (Slovenia) – Lead Partner
Institute for Sustainable Development (Slovenia)
RERA SD – Public Institution for Coordination and Development of Split-Dalmatia County (Croatia)
Institute for Circular Economy (I.C.E.) (Croatia)
Province of Teruel (Spain)
ADRAL – Alentejo Regional Development Agency (Portugal)
CTDC – Center for Tourism Development and Cooperation (Montenegro)
Lazio Region (Italy)
Region of Western Greece (Greece)
Sicily Region – Department of Territory and Environment (Italy)
🌍 The DarkSkyTour project will develop and pilot astrotourism services in 8 regions, raise awareness about the negative impacts of light pollution on biodiversity, and promote nature-based tourism as a year-round eco-friendly alternative that supports rural development.
💡 With tools like the “Procedures for Development of Dark Sky Tourism”, regional itineraries, capacity building events, and a final international Dark Sky Tourism Festival, we aim to make the stars a little more visible — and tourism a lot more sustainable.
Stay tuned as we embark on this stellar journey to reconnect with the cosmos and protect our shared natural heritage!
